Funeral services of Donald Lloyd Myrup, 71, of Lusk, were held Aug. 7, 2002, at Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home.
Donald Lloyd Myrup, died July 30, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. He was born April 17, 1931, in Hat Creek, Wyo. to Chris and Millie Myrup. As a young man he lived with his family on a place near Hat Creek. He attended school at Hat Creek and Niobrara County High School.
On Aug. 8, 1951, he joined the army and was stationed in Korea. When he was discharged he returned home to Lusk. In 1954 he married Garnet (Erlewine) Heckert and they had three children.
He worked most of his life in the oil fields. Donald enjoyed traveling and was able to see a lot of different areas from Alaska to New Mexico by working in the oil field.
When he retired he returned to Lusk where he took care of the rest area for several years. After retiring from the rest area, he sold his home and moved into the Ranger. While living at the Ranger he enjoyed getting out and taking drives or riding his scooter around town visiting with his many friends. He loved to play cards and was always ready for a game of cribbage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Donald Glenn; sisters Dorothy Mashek and Laura Alexander; and brothers Lester and Alfred Myrup.
His is survived by his daughters Terry Davis, of Kansas City, Mo., and Donna Lloyd of Van Tassell; sisters Tilly Parmely of Manville and Betty Johnson of Casper; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the local VFW, Elks, or Niobrara Senior Center, of which he was a member.
