Dr. R. B. Rogers Dies at Football Game Saturday

Dr. R. B. Rogers, 53, of Cheyenne and a former resident of Lusk, died of an apparent heart attack while attending the Wyoming-Colorado State University football game Saturday.

Dr. Rogers, a dentist, was stricken during the first quarter of the game and in the company of a doctor who was seated nearby was rushed to Ivinson Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cheyenne with the Rev. Eugene Todd officiating. Burial was in Beth El Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Dale Smith, Homer Reynolds, Charles Anderson, Kenneth Kirkbride, Kark Bergner and Tom Martin. Honorary bearers were Bill Martin, Edward Parmelle, Robert Holt, J. M. Hunter Jr., Frank Schott, Frank Rauchfuss, Charles Chapman, Dr. Lundie W. Barlow, Jr., Dr. Frederick W. Ebinger, George Oxley, Richard M. Hutchinson, John Jergens, George Cole, Walt Miller, and J. A. Tollerton, from the Laramie County Dental Association.

He was born at Laramie, Wyo., August 6, 1916, to Foster I. and Hazel (Palmer) Rogers. He moved to Lusk with his parents in 1918 and attended Lusk Grade School and was graduated from Lusk High School with the class of 1934. His parents owned and operated Rogers Drug in Lusk.

He was a graduate of the University of Wyoming and received his DDS from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.

Dr. Rogers and Lomila McCleneghan were married in Greeley, Colo. in 1937.

During World War II he served at Ft. Ord, Calif. Following his army discharge he opened a practice in Buffalo, Wyo., which he continued until 1951 when he moved to Cheyenne.

He was affiliated with St. Mark's Episcopal Church and belonged to the Wyoming Consistory No.1, active with Boy Scouts having received the Silver Beaver leader award, Korein Temple of the Shrine, Little Theater, member of vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal church, immediate past president of Laramie County Dental Association, former member of the board of directors of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, and was an active supporter of the Wyoming Cowboys.

Survivors include his widow, Lomila of the family home; one daughter Martha Ose of Cheyenne; one son, John Rogers of Cheyenne; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Martha) Lamb, Sun City, Ariz., Mrs. Mack (Mary) White, Buffalo, Wyo.; Mrs. Frances Moss, Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; Mark Steplin and Catherin Rob Rogers of Cheyenne.

Attending the services from Lusk were Mrs. Emma Rogers, Robert Templeton, Mrs. Archie Huey, Mrs. Floyd McCleery and Mrs. Edna Percival.
