Richard E. Packard

The committal service for Richard E. Packard, 60, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1992, at the Bader-Peet Funeral Home in Lusk.

Packard, of Chatsworth, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1992, at the Royal C. Johnson Veteran Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 1992, at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa, with the Rev. Raymond Peterson, the VA Hospital Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Lusk, Wyo.

Packard was born March 7, 1932, in Van Tassell, Wyo., the son of Robert and Elsie (Rodgers) Packard. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1960. He married Gladys Erlewine on April 11, 1953.

He later married Edith Moehlmann-Jungen on Aug. 20, 1966, in Canyon City, Colo. He was employed as an electrical construction worker for Dominion Construction Company for several years, and later for other construction companies. He and his wife operated Edie's Bar and Grill in Chatsworth from Nov. 1, 1982 until Nov. 1, 1991.

He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and the DAV. He was commander of American Legion Post 186 of Akron, Iowa, from 1987 to 1988, also commander of VFW Post 915 of Elk Point, S.D., from 1985 to 1986. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1865.

Survivors include his wife, Edith, of Chatsworth; a daughter, Marilyn Kay Morgan of Guernsey, Wyo.; a step daughter, Lois Solbue of Alcester, S.D.; three brothers, William Packard of Douglas, Wyo.; Robert Packard of Parson, Kan, and Donald Packard of Torrington, Wyo.; three sisters; Dorothy Brewer of Torrington; Rosezette Jordan of Cheyenne and Doris Gideon of Joplin, Mo. and two grandchildren; Richard and Rebecca.
