Mary Ann Sides

Mary Ann passed to a better place on Aug. 21, 2011, in her home with family and friends following a heroic battle of cancer for the past eight months.

She was born Feb 3, 1934 to Chuck and Hattie (McCurdy) Vondra. She was raised in the JayEm/Prairie Center area and attended her junior and senior year at Torrington High School. On May 24, 1953 she married Robert Allyn Sides. The couple resided in Lusk for a few years before moving to Lance Creek, where they lived for the next thirty years. In 1986 they retired and moved to Manville, Wyo.

Mary Ann was a member of the B.P.O. DOES and was the musician for five plus years. She loved to play the piano and loved to dance, anything that had to do with good ole country music you could count her in. Mary Ann also enjoyed and trip or two to Deadwood to try her luck.

She loved that as much as playing pitch or rolling a good dice game. But as much as she loved and enjoyed these things it was nothing compared to the love she had for her grandchildren. Beau, Rowdy, Shayla and Jayme they always brought a spark to her eyes. Including the sparks she had when she found out she was a first time great grandmother, Feona Marie Sides was born Aug. 20 2011 in Cartersville Georgia.

Survivors including her four children Slug Sides of Manville Wyo, Chuck Sides of Dalton Ga, Vonda Martinez of Newcastle Wyo. and Bobbi Sides of Montevideo Minnesota. Four grandchildren and one great grandchild and a sister Ardale Coffee of Minneapolis Minnesota, a sister-in-law Orese Vondra of Casper Wyo. and many nieces and nephews. Also her always faithful companion Bones.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert Allyn Sides, her parents Chuck and Hattie Vondra, two brothers Joe and Vern Vondra and one sister Verona Haskins.

Services will be held at the mortuary in Lusk at 1:30 Saturday Aug. 27, 2011. A celebration of her life will take place at the Three Sisters cafe in Manville following the service.
