Edmond M. Cook

Edmond Mill Cook was born April 6, 1910 at Lusk, the son of Edmond and Christina Mill Cook. He died at his ranch north of Lusk April 3, 1984.

He attended schools at Hat Creek and Lusk, graduating with the class of 1928. He served with the CCC camps as a teamster and cobbler in Pinedale and Saugus, Calif. before working in the oil field at Lance Creek for five years.

The rest of his life was spent on the family ranch. He took over the operation in 1942. On Sept. 26, 1935, he married Julia M. Black at Harrison, Nebr.

He had served on the county fair board, the school board and was a member of the Niobrara Historical Society, the Senior Center and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Julia of Lusk, one son, Edmond A. Cook of Torrington; one granddaughter, and many other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk, April 7, 1984 by the Rev. Delbert Dick. Music was provided by Wanda Hansen, organist and Darryl Manring who sang "Home on the Range" and "Amazing Grace."

Active pallbearers were Pete Hansen, Jim Reed, Bill Mill, Jim Rumney, Ray Rumney and Bill Hammell.

Interment was at Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials maybe made to the Niobrara County Historical Society.

Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
