David Bruce Lohr

David Bruce Lohr passed away on January 20, 2024 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after fighting throat cancer for five months. David was born on July 16, 1956 at Spencer Hospital in Lusk, the second son of Walter A. and Dorthy M. Lohr. He was raised in Lusk, graduating in 1974 from NCHS and then attended one year at UW. He hired on with BN railroad working on a steel gang in the sand hills of Nebraska in the fall of 1975, as he was the only one out of a hundred on the gang from Wyoming he got the nickname "Wyo". That name stuck with him up through his retirement in 2016, most didn't know D.B. Lohr but everyone knew "Wyo". David was running a D7 cat out of Edgemont, SD for several months when his roadmaster came up to him and told him that "Wyo" must be working for his health because there were no time slips for him, but the roadmaster didn't know who this D.B. Lohr was that kept reporting time.
David bought a house in Hartville, Wy. and spent a good part of his later employment working out of Guernsey Wy. After retirement he was talked in to running for town council and later became mayor when the mayor resigned and David was the mayor pro term. David's girlfriend, Sabrina Martin ran the rural mail route out of Hartville so David got to spend time with her running the route up until his diagnosis of throat cancer in August of 2023. Retirement wasn't pleasant for David, he went in for hernia surgery and came out with three stents in his heart, was told he had diabetes and went on a diet and lost 50 pounds. Couldn't get clearance from his cardiologist to have the hernia fixed and was told that maybe he didn't have diabetes after all and then found out he had throat cancer.
David was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, mother and father and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brother Roy(Verlla), nephew Tyrel Lohr, nieces Tinette Hales and Jodi Davis and his girlfriend Sabrina Martin.
David was cremated and ashes spread on the hill behind his house where the deer came to drink at the tank he put in for them. As per his request, no services were held
