Service in Rapid City for Mrs. Nina Evenson
Funeral service was held in Rapid City, S. D., October 7 for Mrs. Nina Evenson, 75, who died at the Lusk hospital October 4. The service was conducted by the Rev. Fred Bolinger of Lusk at Behrens Mortuary.
Mrs. Kenneth Ketel, organist accompanied soloist Marvin Henzlik. Casket bearers were Dennis Catencamp, Fred Johnson, Rick Whiting, Larry Skog, Bud Johnson, Tom Lampher. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City.
Nina Jarvin Evenson was born in Butler County, Kan., July 14, 1900, the daughter of Emma Jarvis. She moved with her family from Kansas to Quinn, S. D., when she was 10 years old. After she graduated from Pennington County Schools she attended college at Aberdeen, S. D. She taught school a year before her marriage to Selmer Evenson at Quinn, June 27, 1923. She again taught school from 1946 to 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Evenson moved to Lusk in June of 1969. They were the parents of four boys and two girls.
Mrs. Evenson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Selma) Rogina, Lusk and Mrs. Art (Emma) Zimmershide of Moorcroft; a son Duane Evenson, Rapid City; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Selmer Evenson January 31, 1973, and three sons.
Mrs. Evenson was very active in Sunday school and church. In former years she was teacher and Sunday School superintendent.
