Funeral services for Annabell Hoy, 76, were held Sunday, April 5, 1992, at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington, Wyo., with Pastors Howard Roseberry and Clyde Spaulding officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.
Memorial gifts to either Pinehaven Children's Home at St. Ignatius, Mont., or the Platte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff, Neb., would be appreciated by the family. Hoy died April 2, 1992, at Community Hospital in Torrington.
She was born May 17, 1915, four miles south of Rawhide Buttes in Goshen County, the daughter of Carl and Rose Brown. She grew up and went to school in the Moore Springs area north of Fort Laramie, Wyo. She graduated from Lusk High School in 1933 and attended the University of Wyoming for two years.
She taught school for one year at Leo, Wyo., north of Medicine Bow and at Wilson School 12 miles northwest of Fort Laramie. She also taught at Moore Springs and Jay Em.
She married Ed Hoy in Scottsbluff on June 1, 1937 and they lived on the Tommy Upton homestead west of Jay Em. They later bought the homestead of Ed and Ray Kelly west of Jay Em, where they ranched until their retirement in 1986, except 1947 when they operated the grocery store in Yoder, Wyo. They then moved to Torrington.
She was a member of the Jay Em Church, Jay Em Extension Club, the Farm Bureau, Goshen County Historical Society, Senior Friendship Center in both Lusk and Torrington and the Monday Ladies' Bible Study Group.
She is survived by her husband, Ed, daughter Carol Webb and son Calvin Hoy, all of Torrington; three sisters, Hazel Eggers of Torrington, Bernice Carmichael of Pinedale, Wyo. and Bonnie Hurst of Yoder; two brothers, Bill Brown of Sterling, Colo., and Carl E. Brown Jr. of Lusk; grandsons Tod and Stanley Rush both of Torrington and granddaughter Brenda Hoy of Laramie and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
