Edwin Hopkins Dies in Douglas
Funeral service for Edwin J. Hopkins, 54, formerly of Niobrara County, was held at 2:00 p.m. March 11 at the Methodist Church in Douglas. Burial was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hopkins, a brother of Mrs. Bill Anderson of Lusk, died March 8 in Douglas.
He was born February 5, 1927, at Kola, Neb. The family moved to Manville in 1927, and he went to school in Jireh and Manville. Mr. Hopkins served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 in the 3741st Quartermaster Truck Company.
He was married in 1947 to Betty Hall in Rapid City, S.D. They lived in both Niobrara County and Converse County moving to Douglas permanently in 1956.
Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Jim Hill, Casper; two grandchildren, Michael and Crystal Hill, Casper; two brothers, John, Littleton, Colo., and Bill, Billings, Mont.; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Jordan, Alliance, Neb., Mrs. Betty Snell of Garland, Tex., Mrs. Jean Gossett of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Anderson.
Memorials to the Heart Fund were requested by the family.
Honorary pallbearers at the service were Bud Dickau, Fred Hageman, Henry King, Orville Hoyt, and Richard Heine.
Casket bearers were Charles Hovda, Bob Blaney, Bob Gentle, Dwayne Dickau, Jim Bartshe and John Laird.
