Theodore (Ted) O. Jones

Theodore (Ted) O. Jones, age 84 of Lusk, passed away at his home Thursday morning. A graveside memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Lusk Cemetery.

He was born on April 11, 1920, to Oscar and Nellie Lockett Jones in Edgemont, S.D. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1938. He entered the United States Army in 1942 and was a paratrooper and infantryman. He was honorably discharged in1945 as a Staff Sergeant. He received a Bronze Medal in the European and African Theater.

Ted was a rancher from 1945 until 1988 residing 42 miles north of Lusk. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ada McDaniel, and his brothers Dan and Ed.

Ted is survived by his wife Bertie of Lusk; sons, Brad and his wife Becky of Hemingford, Nebr. and their children Lacey, Scott Green and Jackie Wilson; son, Rod of Lusk; son, Hollis of Basin; David and his wife Shawn of Rapid City, S.D. and their children Courtni and Tyler Eissler; daughters, Rhonda Jones-Foos and her companion, Lance of Rapid City, S.D. and her children Bailey Midkiff, Brianna Van Schoonhoven and Jeremiah Clark; Jennifer Sakala and husband Tom, of Lusk, and their children Amber and Lisha; and his sister, Betty Sabla and husband of Lander and nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established to the Lusk Senior Center. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
