A.E. Larson Dies Monday; Funeral Held Wednesday
A. E. (Tony) Larson, 74, a resident of this area for most of his life, died in a Scottsbluff hospital Monday. Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk Wednesday.
The Rev. James Davis, minister of the Lusk Congregational Church, officiated at the 2:00 p.m. services. Mrs. Opal Templeton played the organ and Mrs. Fayne Davis sang, "The Old Rugged Cross."
Casket bearers were: Warren Robertson, Temple Barnett, Wesley Shoults, Alvin Haase, James Berry, Harry Fernau, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dan Hanson, Ray Christian, Otto Klemke, Don Taylor, William Miller, Judson P. Watson, Ray DeGering, Anton Hansen, William Kruse, Earl Criss, Jennings Ruffing.
Anton Edward Larson was born November 10, 1888 on a farm nine miles north of Crawford. He was one of eight children. While still a small boy he moved to the Harrison area. He was graduated from Sioux County High School at Harrison and later attended business college at Grand Island, Neb.
He taught in the Harrison schools for a number of years before entering the ranch business, an occupation he followed the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Shoults of Van Tassel and Mrs. Gayle Bernbeck of Lingle; one sister Mrs. Ellen Christian of Crawford; two brothers, Roy of Vista, Calif. and Ralph of Chadron; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
For the past several years Mr. Larson spent much time and a great amount of effort to further the cause of conservative government.
