Ralph Olafson funeral Monday
Funeral service for Ralph Lars Olafson was held Monday at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Mrs. Edna DeCastro, organist, accompanied Tim Johnson as he sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "I've Got a Mansion." Casket bearers were Raymond Jenkins, Ron Fowler, Terry Griffith, Robert Miller, Laird Johnson and Jim Santistevan. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Ralph Lars Olafson was born Dec. 30, 1903, at Mission Hill, S. D., the son of William and Nellie Olafson. He spent most of his younger years at Mission Hill. Aug. 21, 1934 he married Mary Buck at Sioux City, Iowa. They later moved to Lusk where he has lived for 31 years.
Mr. Olafson is survived by a daughter, Nellie Pfister of Lusk, one step-daughter Naomi Coen, Prineville, Ore.; four grandchildren, Carol Sumner and Glenda Coen, Prineville, Ore., and Pat Santistevan and Rickie Pfister, Lusk; four sisters, Blanche Hohenthaner, Rhode Island, Hazel Cooper, Winnebago, Neb., Mildred Ryken, Irene, S.D., and Gladys Kuhn, Lingle, two brothers, Ray Olafson of Lusk and Willard Olafson, Macy, Neb.; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild, Tony Kay Pfister who died in 1953.
