Bernice M. Pennington

Services for Bernice M. Pennington, age 82, were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Robert Todd officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Pennington died Tuesday, April 11, 1989, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas. She was born June 29, 1906, at Brookings, South Dakota, the daughter of Phillip and Sarah Pearce. In 1912 the family homesteaded southeast of Lusk where Bernice attended grade school at the Pfister school. The family later moved to Lusk where she continued her education.

She married Roy Pennington on June 6, 1923 at Chadron, Nebraska. They lived in various places in Wyoming and in 1935 they moved to a ranch near Lost Springs, Wyoming. In 1956 they moved into Lusk. In August of 1984, Bernice entered the Michael Manor Nursing Home in Douglas.

Bernice was a longtime member of B.P.O. Does #26. She loved her family, gardening, and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Leona, four brothers, and one grandson.

Survivors include: two sons, Ted of Lost Springs, and Jim of Page, Arizona; one daughter, Charlene Glandt of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters, Ethel Shelton and Marie Jones both of Long Beach, California; and Leatha Zerbe of Casper; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
