Kenneth A. (Slim) Patterson
Funeral services for Kenneth Armond (Slim) Patterson, 80, of Rapid City, S.D. were held Dec. 30, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche, S.D. Interment followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.
Slim Patterson died Dec. 25, 2003 at Fort Meade Veterans Medical Center.
He was born July 3, 1923, in Sioux County, Nebr. to Welchie and Pearl (Westerman)
Patterson. He was raised on the Pendray ranch south of Van Tassell.
Slim enlisted in the U W Army on June 4, 1943, at Ft. Warren, Wyo. and was honorably discharged on Feb. 4, 1946 at Ft. Logan, Colo.
He married Adeline Roberts on July 8, 1946 at Baker, Mont.
He worked as a ranchhand in Wyoming and later worked as a mechanic in Nebraska and Wyoming, including working for Lacy Motors in Harrison.
He moved to Belle Fourche and worked at Hoseth's Auto parts for 35 years as a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline of Rapid City; two daughters, Brenda Moreno of Minatare, Neb. and Juanita Garza of Scottsbluff, Neb.; four sons, Norman Patterson of Santa Fe, N.M.; Donald Patterson of Rapid City; Ray Patterson of New Underwood, S.D., and Kenneth Patterson, Jr. of Rapid City; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Welchie Patterson of Hulett, Wyo.; and two sisters Verla Tucker of Salem, Ore., and Florence Potter of Lusk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Stephen. Arrangements were under the direction of Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel of Belle Fourche.
