Elizabeth Snow Dies In Calif.
Mrs. Elizabeth Snow, a very well known pioneer woman of this area, died at her home in Long Beach, Calif., May 29. Funeral services were held June 3 from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Long Beach with Rev. Father James E. Hansen officiating.
Interment was made in a mausoleum at Sunnyside, Calif., beside her husband. Mrs. Snow first came to this area in 1875 from Omaha 11 years before Lusk was founded. Mr. and Mrs. Snow ranched about five miles north of Lingle and later Mr. Snow was the largest stockholder in a Torrington Bank. Mrs. Snow was a long time friend of many early residents in this area and often visited here.
The Travis Snow Post of the American Legion in Torrington is named for her son who was killed in the First World War.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Matty Shoals of Long Beach; two nephews, Henry McGinnis of Lusk and Thomas McGinnis of Gaylord, Mich. and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry Rictchart of Lusk; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in California about 1920, and three brothers, Charles, John and Will McGinnis of Lusk. Her mother is buried in the Lusk Cemetery.
