Mrs. Brown Dies Here Wed.

Mrs. Edwin L. (Lucy) Brown, 82, died at the Spencer Hospital early Wednesday morning of a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to the hospital for five weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown came to Lusk from Parker , S. Dak. in 1919 and Mr. Brown opened a law office. Mrs. Brown taught painting for a number of years.

She is survived by a son, Edwin L. Brown, Jr. of Chicago.

Funeral services will be held at the Peet Mortuary Friday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Grand Ridge, Ill.

Funeral for Mrs. Brown Held Fri.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Brown were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday from the Peet Mortuary with the Rev. Jacob Nein officiating.

Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro sang, "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Burial was in the Grand Ridge Cemetery in Mendata, Ill.

Lucy Elizabeth, daughter of Anton and Anna Lowenberg, was born December 27, 1877 in Granville, Ill. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended Peru Normal College at Peru, Ill., and later attended Dixon College in Dixon, Ill., where she met Edwin L. Brown whom she married in 1899. they were the parents of one son. In 1901 the family moved to Parker, S. Dak. In 1919 they moved to Lusk where Mr. Brown practiced law. He died in 1943.

Mrs. Brown was very active in the work of the Congregational church and was a member of several women's organizations. She painted beautifully and instructed in painting. Her life was rich and colorful and her faith in God never wavered. "Give and you shall receive" was a rule she practiced over the years and gained her many friends. She was a creative person who never hesitated to help in whatever capacity she could.

She is survived by her son, Edwin L. Brown, Jr., an attorney of Evanston, Ill.; two grandchildren, Mrs Phillip Trainer of Omaha, and Lewis Brown of Evanston, Ill.; and two great grandchildren.
