Annette Copley Barnes
Annette Copley Barnes, age 78, of Lusk, died Sept. 5, 2008, at Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. A funeral service was held at St. George's Episcopal Church Sept. 9, 2008, with Father Cliff Moore officiating. Annette was born in Walsenburg, Colo. on June 26, 1930, to Oscar and Lila (Smith) Copley. She attended Arvada High School in Arvada, Colo. and the Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colo.
On March 24, 1950, she married Don Barnes. Don and Annette moved to Lusk, Wyo. with their three children in 1964. Annette stayed at home with their children until 1975 when she went to work at the Lusk State Bank as a bank teller. Annette was active in her church, where she served on many committees. She was also an active member of P.E.O. Chapter I, Lusk and held many offices, including local and state president.
Annette loved Lusk and her large and loving group of friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, visiting her grandchildren, gardening and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Barnes; her sisters, Clarice Joy Copley and Marjilyn Drysdale; and her parents, Oscar and Lila Copley.
Survivors include her son, John Barnes and his wife Karen of Gillette, Wyo.; two daughters and their spouses, Jill and Tom Bramlet of Wheatland, Wyo.; and Jennifer and Chris Amend of Riverton, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, John Copley of Spokane, Wash.; and many special friends.
For those who wish, a memorial has been established in memory of Annette for a local P.E.O. scholarship or to St. George's Episcopal Church. Donations may be sent to Pier Funeral Home at PO Box 569, Lusk, WY 82225. Pier Funeral Home of Lusk is in charge of arrangements.
