Monta Sarah Gabbert

Monta Sarah Blaylock, daughter of Henry and Mary Blaylock, was born November 9th, 1878 and died July 31, 1939 at the age of 61 years, 8 months and 22 days. She grew to womanhood in the Union Grove community near Gentry, Mo. She was united in marriage on December 25th, 1896 at Mount Pleasant, Missouri to John Adam Gabbert, who passed away Aug. (?2), 1932. Her entire married life was spent in Gentry and Worth Counties. She united with the New Friendship church early in life and was very active in community and church life, especially in the Oxford community where she lived for seventeen years. The past three years she has lived at Lusk, Wyoming, returning to Grant City only last March. While in Wyoming she was active in the Lusk Chapter of War Mothers.

She was the mother of eleven children, one of whom, Charles Curtis, passed away in early childhood. The ten living sons and daughters are: George, Sheridan, Mo.; Grave Cranham, Ravenhood, Mo.; Dale, Grant City, Mo.; La Von, Lusk Wyo.; Clifford, Washington, D. C.; Garvin, Omaha, Nebr.; Arline Scadden, Grant City, Mo.; Bailey, Sheridan, Mo.; Margaret Anders, Sheridas; and Noel, Washington D. C. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Blaylock, who is 91 years of age; and four brothers and sisters. Her sister(s) are Mr(s). Dora Kier, Gentry, Mo. and Mrs. Juda Beauch(amp), Denver, Mo. Her brothers are Charles Blaylock, Gentry, Mo. and Frank Blaylock, Sheridan, MO.

Mrs. Gabbert had been in failing health for the past five months but was very patient through all her suffering. She expressed her conviction that her work on earth was done and that she was quite ready to be with her Saviour. With this feeling uppermost in their minds, her body was tenderly laid to rest at New Friendship by her six sons, who also laid the father to rest seven years ago. Service(s) were conducted August 2, at the New Friendship church by Rev. C. C. Pritchard.
