Rolland Harrison Dies at Billings

Rolland Frederick Harrison, 36, former Harrison resident, died unexpectedly August 11 in a Billings, Mont. hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital only a few hours before with a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Harrison, better known as Bud, was born April 27, 1923, in Chadron. He attended grade school at Wayside, Nebr., and graduated from Chadron High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Air Force in February of 1943 and served as a technical sergeant in the European, African and Middle East theaters. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a four Oak Leaf Cluster and bar, and air medal. He was discharged October 31, 1945.

He was a member of the Chadron Methodist Church. Mr. Harrison married Rita Mae Riley of Harrison April 27, 1948, and they lived in Harrison until 1950 when they moved to Billings where he was employed as a mechanic for Empire Motors.

Surviving besides his wife, Rita, are his mother, Mrs. Carl Nelson, and step-father, Mr. Nelson of Harrison; four sisters, Mrs. Tommy Lecher, Mrs. Harold Blundell, Mrs. William Brown, Jr., all of Chadron, and Mrs. Milton Hughes of Crawford. His father and a half brother died previously.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the Methodist Church in Chadron. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson went to Billings Tuesday when notified of his illness.
