J. T. Donaghu, aged 81, Dies at Jireh Home

Masonic Order Conducts Funeral of Another Old-Timer

John Thomas Donaghu, 81 years old, who has for many years made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mary Harlan, at Jireh, passed away in a hospital at Norfolk, Neb., on Wednesday, March 16, and was buried last Saturday in the Jireh cemetery.

The burial service of the Masonic order was performed by the Roosevelt lodge No. 39 of Manville of which C. A. Whelan is Grand master.

The pallbearers were R. F. Burhoop, O.A. Rood, Lee Stoddard and H. B. Card, all of Manville, and J.P. Costlow and Chris Joss of Lusk.

Those from the masonic lodge of Lusk, who attended were P.P. Brown, J.P. Costlow, Frank Chambers, E. M. Phillips, R. I. Olinger, R.A. Faulk, Chris Joss and C. A. Wheelan.

John Thomas Donaghu was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., March 23, 1846. When a small boy he moved to a homestead at Sheffield, Ill., with his parents, where he was educated. When 28 years old he moved to Webster county, Ia., where he was married to Anna Bell Pollock. To this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Ida Miller of Fort Smith, Ark.; Mrs. Mayme DeGroote, of Humbolt, Ia., and Mrs. Lottie Brown of Norfolk, Neb.

After living thirty years in Iowa, he moved to Bellmont, Neb., living there four years, then came to Jireh, where he has since made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mary Harlan, for the past 18 years. He affiliated with the Presbyterian church when a young man, and was made a Mason at Sheffield, Ill. Besides the three daughters he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Harlan and Miss Rose Donaghu and one brother, Joseph, of Whittles, Cal.
