Funeral services for Henry Funk, 72, of Gering, formerly of Lusk, were held Friday, Jan. 10, 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Gering Zion Church with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Interment followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.
Funk died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1992, at a hospital in the Gering area. A memorial has been established to the church.
Funk was born July 10, 1919, at Scottsbluff to Jacob and Mary (Funk) Funk, where he grew up, graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1937. He married Marie Arndt on Nov. 16, 1941, at Gering. He farmed north of Bayard until moving to Wheatland, where he farmed from 1949 until 1956. He later farmed at Yuba City, Calif., for two years until returning to the Bayard area in 1958, where he farmed until 1976.
He ranched at Lusk from 1976 until his retirement in 1985, when he moved to Gering. He was engaged in selling real estate for Century 21 at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Gering Zion Church; he served on church boards in the 1960s at Gering and Lusk, and was a member of the Elks' Lodge in Scottsbluff.
He is survived by sons, Roger Funk of Mitchell and Larry Funk of West Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Chris Funk of Minatare; sisters, Emma Sticker of Minatare, Marie Reuter and Lydia Smith both of Scottsbluff.
He is also survived by four stepbrothers and two stepsisters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.
