Anthon Hansen, 79, Dies in Lusk Store Saturday

Anthon Hansen, 79, a long-time resident of this community, died Saturday morning in a Lusk store. He had been on an errand for a friend when he collapsed.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Schuett of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Mrs. J. P. Watson furnished organ music and accompanied Mrs. Samuel M. Thomas and Bob Reichert as they sang "I'm But A Stranger here" and "Nearer My God To Thee."

Casket bearers were Walter Swope, Oscar Bostrom, Fred Hansen, Menno Kaan, Henry Klemke, Roy Turnbull, Levern James and Charley Heumier.

PIONEER BLACKSMITH

Mr. Hansen was born April 10, 1888 at Ronne Bornholm, Denmark, the son of Hans and Engeline Hansen. Following his public schooling, he was apprenticed to a blacksmith at the age of 12. In 1906, he immigrated to the United States, making his home with a sister in Jamestown, N.Y. He came to Wyoming in 1909 and worked as a blacksmith in Lusk and Douglas.

July 11, 1910, he and Gertrude Larson were married and were the parents of three daughters, Katherine Wood, Marie Golden, and Anna Louise Justus; three sons, Ernest, Carl and Glen, all living.

In March 1913, they homesteaded in the Divide area, six miles northeast of Lusk. This ranch was the family home for over 30 years. In 1944 they retired from ranching and moved to Lusk.

His wife, Gertrude, died in 1966 and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild died previously.

Survivors include his six children, 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, numerous other relatives.

Mex.; James Wood, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Janice (Wood) Patzek and daughter of St. Louis, Mo.
