Eleanor Malcomson Perau Havig

A memorial service for Eleanor Malcomson Perau Havig, 90, was held Sept. 20, 1999, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Casper. Funeral services and burial are planned at St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Cemetery in Toeterville, Iowa.

She died Sept. 19, 1999, in Casper.

She was born Feb. 11, 1909, to Robert and Sarah Malcomson in LeRoy, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church of LeRoy and attended and graduated from LeRoy Public School. During her high school years, she studied vocal and instrumental music. She was a gifted pianist and music remained her favorite past time all of her life.

She married August Perau on Dec. 13, 1927, in LeRoy. They made their home for several years in Toeterville, Iowa; spent two years on her parents' farm in LeRoy and later moved back to Iowa.

Her husband died suddenly after surgery in 1940 and she and her seven children moved into St. Ansgar, Iowa, so the children could attend high school.

She married Oscar Havig of St. Ansgar on Dec. 17, 1950 and they had one son. He preceded her in death after a short bout with cancer.

In 1967, she and her son, Dennis, moved to Buffalo, Wyo., where she was employed by the IGA for 17 years. After retiring, she moved to Casper where she lived at the time of her death.

Survivors include seven children and their spouses; Douglas Perau of Strongsville, Ohio; Joan Miller of Casper, Ruth Schmidt of Lusk; Shirley Amo of Buffalo; Sharon Scott of Clarkston, Mich.; Eleanor Gossett of Laramie and Dennis Havig of Wisdom, Mont.; a sister, Ione Henry; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; one brother; one granddaughter; one grandson; and one son, Franklin.

Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Care Center or Our Savior's Lutheran Church, both in Casper.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bustards in Casper and Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
