William "Bill" Frederick Hebner

William "Bill" Frederick Hebner, a former resident of the Harrison area, died October 13 in a Las Vegas hospital.

William Hebner was born October 12, 1906, the son of Frederick William and Catherine Beck Hebner at Hebner, S. D., near Pierre. Bill moved to Harrison with his parents in 1907. The family lived in Harrison for a time before homesteading south of town. Bill attended country school and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1926. He worked on neighboring ranches during his boyhood.

He graduated from pharmacy school in Omaha and sent to military school in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked in drug stores in Harrison, Lusk, Denver, Phoenix and other areas. He also worked for a time in construction and was one of the supervisors of the dam project at Page, Arizona.

In 1934 he married Ruby Lewis. The four children born to this union are William "Billy" Frederick Jr., Phyllis Jean Johnson, both of Las Vegas, Nadine Craig, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Cherita Elsie Eddleman, Phoenix.

Prayer service was October 15 at the Palm Valley View Chapel with funeral service on October 16 also at the Chapel. Burial was in Palm Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery in Las Vegas. The military flag was presented to Bill's wife Peggy after the services.

All his children except Nadine attended the funeral. Others present were his grandchildren Jeri Katherine, Linda, Gary and David Johnson, Darrell Hebner and Russell Eddleman and step-daughters Sharon and Ruth; Ruby Hebner of Phoenix; a sister, Katherine Knight of California and a nephew Melvin Lewis, Casper.

Hebner was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.

He is survived by his wife Peggy and her daughters Sharon Ryno and Ruth Benton, all of Las Vegas; all of his children and their families; grandchildren, nephews and nieces; sisters Rose Lewis, Van Tassell, Margaret Lewis, Torrington, Katherine Knight, Sunnymead, Calif., Louise Snook, Chadron; and brothers Daniel, Harrison and Benjamin Hebner, Wheelersburg, Ohio.
