Howard E. Hladky
Howard E. Hladky, 73, Emmett, Kan., died Friday, Oct. 16, 1992, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kan.
He was born Aug, 5, 1919, east of Emmett, the son of Edward E. and Albina Macha Hladky. He attended Long Branch Grade School near Emmett. He worked on ranches in Wyoming from 1938 until 1943. He farmed with his father in Emmett from 1943 until 1948. He owned and operated Emmett Recreation from 1948 until 1952. He then worked for Goodyear from 1952 until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of Emmett United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens Group at Emmett, and the Emmett Lions Club.
He was married to Irene I. Edwards on Oct. 22, 1940, in Hardin, Mont. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Virginia Reiners, Tucson, Ariz., and Jeraldine Hineman of Lusk, Wyo.; two sons, Merle Hladky and Greg Hladky, both of Topeka; three brothers, Erman Hladky, Sheridan, Wyo., Leonard Hladky, Corning, Calif. and Garnett Hladky, Emmett; two sisters, Bernice Morgan, Port Angeles, Wash. and Inez DeVader, Holton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1992, at the Emmett United Methodist Church. Burial was in St. Clere Cemetery.
Verschelden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
