Services for Anna L. Humphrey, 81, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1992, at the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with Rev. Bradley Smith of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial followed in the Dellview Cemetery in Manville.
Humphrey died Dec. 29, 1991, at the West Haven Nursing Center in West Haven, Conn. She was born June 10, 1910, at Richmond, Wis., the daughter of Franz and Bertha Klitzke. She grew up on her parents' farm and attended school at Richmond. At the age of 19 she went to work for the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad as a ticket agent and concession clerk for four years.
She married William Humphrey on Sept. 6, 1933, and they moved to Lance Creek, Wyo., where she owned and operated a cafe from 1937-1941. Later, she worked as a cook at the Lance Creek Grade School from 1949 until the death of her husband in 1951, when she moved to Manville. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Lusk from 1952 until July of 1963, when she became Postmaster at Manville. She worked at that position until her retirement in 1975.
She lived at her home in Manville, until ill health placed her in the nursing home in Lusk for a short time. In 1986, her sister took her to New Haven, Conn., to care for her. She had resided in a nursing home in West Haven for two years before her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk.
Survivors include one sister, Irene Moru of New Haven, Conn.; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
