N. Fulton Hester

Funeral services for N. Fulton Hester, 79, were held Tuesday, March 28 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland, with Andy Gudahl, Minister of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Hester died Saturday, March 25, 1995, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

He was born June 29, 1915, at Naponee, Neb., the son of Newton F. and Irma (Fulton) Hester. They moved to the Slater community in 1917 where they farmed for a few years.

They later moved to Wheatland when Mr. Hester was elected Platte County Clerk. Fulton graduated from the Wheatland High School in 1933. On September 1, 1934, he married Maesel Watson in Ogallala, Neb.

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year with their family. Fulton and his father started farming in Niobrara County after Fulton's discharge from the United States Navy in 1946.

At the present time, Newton Hester Jr. and his sons operate the Hester Farms. Fulton was active in helping to organize the Wyoming Wheat Growers and was State President of that organization. He was a charter member of the Wyoming Wheat Commission.

Fulton is survived by his wife, Maesel, of Wheatland; his daughter, Irma Baker, and husband John of Chugwater; his son, Newton Hester, and wife Ann of Keeline; four grandchildren, Debra Ross of Greeley, Col., Karen Shattuck of Cheyenne, John Hester and Wade Hester of Keeline; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Hester Street in 1993.

Memorials to the Platte County Memorial Hospital, 201 14th Street, Wheatland, Wyo. 82201, would be appreciated by the family.

The Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of arrangements.
