Last Rites for Sylvester Fluent

Funeral services for Charles Sylvester Fluent of Maskell, Nebr., were held November 26 at Zion Lutheran Church. The Reverend Carl Grindberg of Sioux City, Iowa officiated. Burial with military honors was in Lime Creek Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home of Ponca, Nebr.

Charles, oldest child of George and Mary Cook Fluent, was born December 9, 1896 at Newcastle, Nebr. and died Nov. 24 in Sioux City after a short illness.

In June 1908 he moved with his parents to a ranch south of Harrison where he grew to manhood. On July 20, 1925, he was married to Amy Ring who died in January 1932. On June 7, 1935, he married Hilda Nelson of Maskell. They had two children. They lived for several years on a ranch north of Harrison before moving to Maskell.

He was a member of Arch Cullers Post of the American Legion at Crawford later transferring to a post at Newcastle. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Maskell.

Survivors include his widow, Hilda; one son Glen of Newcastle; a daughter, Kay of Maskell; five brothers, Ralph of Oakdale, Nebr., Floyd of Hartington, Nebr., Lloyd of Crawford, Eugene of Newcastle, and Clair of Ponca; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Hiatt of Burney, Calif., Mrs. Faeth Hagen of Crawford, and Mrs. Gladys Blatchford of Newcastle; and six grandchildren.
