Memorial services for Edward J. Foley, 79, were held Friday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara's Catholic Church by Rev. Fred Wendel.

Mr. Foley died Dec. 22, 1989 at the Powell Hospital. He was born on June 26, 1919 to Edward J. and Josephine Foley in Anselmo, Neb. where he was reared and educated, graduating from high school there in 1936.

Following graduation, he went to work for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) and then entered the U.S. Army in March 1942. He served in Sicily, Italy, and Central Europe in the 727th Railroad Battalion.

Following his discharge in 1945, he married Laura Boyd. They moved to Lusk in 1951 where they owned and operated the Merit Cleaners and Laundry until 1976 when they moved to Powell where he was employed by the school district, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Elks Lodge.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by one son, Terry, both of Powell; two daughters, Mrs. Connie Fernau of Lovell, and Mrs. Dixie Moss of Lincoln, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Easton Funeral Home of Powell was in charge of the arrangements.
