Graveside Service for Elmer Foley

Graveside service for Joseph Foley, former Lusk resident was held at the Lusk Cemetery Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. Funeral service was held Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Thermopolis with the rosary held the evening of Sept. 6 with the Father Vincent Bauer officiating. He died at Hot Springs Memorial Hospital September 3 in Thermopolis.

Joseph Elmer Foley was born July 25, 1900, in Merna, Neb. the son of Edward and Josephine Foley. He came to Wyoming 45 years ago, being a cook in Lusk for several years. He moved to Thermopolis in 1945 where he worked on construction of Boysen Dam. After completion of the dam project, he was employed by the Charles M. Smith Construction Co. and then by Empire Oil Company until his retirement several years ago. During retirement he worked for the State Park in Thermopolis for several summers. He was an honorary member of the Wildcat Band and traveled with them for about six years.

Foley is survived by a brother, Ed of Powell, a sister Frances Hanson of Lusk, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jerry, his son Dean and a brother and sister.

Bearers at the graveside service in Lusk were Ed Boner, George Dixon, John DeGering, Ken DeGering, Rick Kilmer and Everett Kilmer.
