James L. Hodgson

James Laurance Hodgson of Boulder died Tuesday Feb. 26 at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Hodgson was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 5, 1919. He was the son of Arthur D. and Georgia Poole Hodgson.

He married Avanell Louise Alter on Dec. 10, 1941, in Lusk.

He attended Texas Christian University and the University of Texas.

Mr. Hodgson was a pilot for United Airlines for 29 years, retiring in 1974 as a DC-10 captain.

For the past 10 years, he worked in real estate.

The Hodgsons moved to Boulder in 1956, from San Francisco.

Mr. Hodgson was a member of the First Congregational Church.

He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder, three daughters, Georgia Mosher of Fort Collins, Colo.; Ava Lynn Fager of Arvada, Colo. and Kimberly Hodgson of Niwot, Colo.; six sisters, Mary Carr of Fort Worth, Texas; Josephine Halsell of Fort Worth, Va.; Barrett and Margaret Wynn, both of Midland, Texas; and Helen Cartwright of Dallas; a brother George Hodgson of Vancouver, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral was at 2: p.m. Friday at Crist Mortuary, with Rev. Bruce MacKenzie of the First Congregational Church officiating.

Wyome Bourret of Ariz., Ione Turnbull and Delma and Bernadine Alter of Lusk attended.

Burial was at Mountain View Memorial Park.
