Ewart G. Hughes
Concluding services were conducted for the late Ewart G. Hughes, well-known rancher of the Flattop community, at 2:30 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Jacobs of the United Episcopal Church of Alliance, Nebr., officiating.
During the rites Frank Kuhn sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages" with Mrs. Judson P. Watson accompanying at the organ.
The remains were laid at rest in the Lusk cemetery with Jim Payne, Clayton Harvey, Elmer Johnson, Henry Hytrek, Del Shoopman, Elnar Christensen, Otto Krekeler and Ray Chitwood of Boulder, Colo., serving as casketbearers.
Ewart George Hughes, son of John and Elizabeth Hughes, was born December 21, 1894 at Randolph, Nebr., and departed this life on Monday, May 21st, 1956, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk, Wyoming, at the age of 61 years and five months.
In 1910, the family moved from Randolph to Box Butte County, Nebraska where Ewart resided until 1914, when he located on a homestead 11 miles south of Keeline where he had successfully operated a ranch since that time.
In 1914 he was united in marriage to Miss Olga Christensen at Hemingford, Nebr., and to this union four children were born - Mrs. Maurine Johnson and Mrs. Ruth Hytrek, and two sons, Edward and Gilbert Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister, and two grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, four children, and a foster son, Lyle Smathers, three brothers, six sisters and sixteen grandchildren.

Ewart Hughes Dies Monday; Services Held Thursday
Ewart G. Hughes, 61 of south of Keeline, died Monday following surgery here. Funeral services will be this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Peet Chapel with burial in the Lusk Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Olga and four children: Mrs. Henry Hytrek of Lusk, Mrs. Maurine Johnson, Edward Hughes and Gilbert Hughes all of Flattop.

Funeral Services Are Held Thursday For Ewart Hughes
Funeral services were held May 24 at 2:30 p.m. from the Peet Chapel for Ewart George Hughes, 61, of the Flattop community who died May 21 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Vernon Jacobs, pastor of the United Episcopal church of Alliance, officiated. Burial was made in the Lusk cemetery.
Frank Kuhn sang "God Be With You 'Till We Meet Again", "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages" accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist.
Casket bearers were Jim Payne, Clayton Harvey, Elmer Johnson, Henry Hytrek, Ray Chitwood, Del Shoopman, Einar Christensen and Otto Krekeler.
Ewart Hughes was born December 20, 1894 at Randolph, Nebr., the son of John and Elizabeth Hughes. He married Miss Olga Christensen at Hemingford, Nebr. in 1914 and they lived on his homestead located 11 miles south of Keeline since that time. They were the parents of four children, Mrs. Ruth Hytrek of Lusk; Mrs. Maurine Johnson, Edward Hughes and Gilbert Hughes all of Flattop.
