Hattie Jewett

Memorial services for Hattie Jewett, age 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 1990, at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk.

Jewett died Wednesday, March 21, 1990, at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born Jan. 1, 1902, in Hamburg, Iowa, the daughter of William and Inez Craig. She grew to adulthood in Missouri and the Nebraska Sandhills. While working in Chadron, Neb., she met and married Lynn F. Jewett on Jan.11, 1921.

The family lived in Lance Creek, Walker Creek, and Manville during tenure in Wyoming. The 1940s found them in Washington State. Mr. Jewett died in 1966 and Hattie remained in Washington until moving back to Lusk in 1982. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Vera Jewett of Rapid City, S.D.; a son, Glenn Jewett of Poulsbo, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Liberty of Lusk, Elsie Huettnee and Virgie Vogel both of Falls City, Neb.; one brother Virgil Craig of Rodney, Iowa; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren plus numerous other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorials to the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home and Hospital will be appreciated by the family.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
