Grace Johnson Dies Friday

Grace Olive Johnson died at her Lusk home Friday and funeral service was held at the Peet Chapel Monday at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Sims of Torrington officiating.

Mrs. Edna DeCastro, organist, accompanied Mrs. Hobart Cockerham as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Casket bearers were Jess York, Charlie Scott, Bill Magoon, John Goddard, Allen Stroodtman and Walter Zerbst. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Grace Olive Johnson was born July 13, 1916, in Douglas to Alfred and Olive Johnson. She grew up in Lusk and graduated from Lusk High School in 1934. She worked for a short time for the Lusk Free Lance and then was employed by the Lusk Herald until she married Arthur Deetjen, Oct. 19, 1936. They lived in Illinois for several years. She worked for Ringsby Truck Line after their divorce in 1948. She married Jack Cashman February 29, 1952 and spent the next several years living on a Niobrara ranch. They were divorced in 1966 and she returned to live in Lusk until her death. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and BPO Does. Members of the Auxiliary and DOES attended the service in a group.

She is survived by a brother, Roy Johnson and his wife Elenor; a sister Ruth Johnson; a nephew Robert Johnson and his wife Polly; and one great niece Deeanne, all of Lusk

She was preceded in death by her parents.
