Joseph C. Klemke

Funeral services for Joseph C. Klemke, age 92, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 1996, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Brett Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Joe died Monday, March 25, 1996, in the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk where he had resided for nearly two years. He was born December 16, 1902 at Hemingford, Neb., the son of Constantine and Martha (Dobkowitz) Klemke. He was the seventh child in a family of 10. As a young man he homesteaded 23 miles northeast of Lusk.

On January 8, 1930, he married Helen Bichel and to this union was born two daughters, JoAnn and Vivian.

Joe enjoyed being a rancher until 1970 when he and Helen purchased a home in Lusk. His interests then turned to helping at the Stagecoach Museum and becoming invaluable with the Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1989, his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include; two daughters, JoAnn Scarce and her husband Ted, of Houston, Texas; Vivian and her husband Kester of Lusk; one sister, Ida Lamb of Hemingford, Neb.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

For those who wish, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the Niobrara Senior Center will be appreciated by the family. Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
