Anetta "Nettie" M. Kilmer

Funeral services for former Lusk resident Anetta "Nettie" M. Kilmer, 96, of Fremont, Nebr., were conducted Tuesday, July 27, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, Nebr., by the Rev. Robert Strawn.

Burial was in Lusk Cemetery on Wednesday, July 28, with the Rev. Tom Strock officiating.

Kilmer died July 25, 2004, at Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Born Feb. 10, 1908 in Merna, Nebr., she was the daughter of Edward and Magdalena (Vollmer) Lauer; and was raised and educated there.

In 1926, she married Roscoe Kilmer in Grand Island, Nebr.

The couple worked in several family businesses in Wyoming until his death on Nov. 12, 1978, after 52 years of marriage. She then lived in Broken Bow until 1991, when she moved to Fremont to live with her nephew and niece-in-law, Dwaine and Rita Lauer, for 10 years.

After a year in Arbor Manor Nursing Home in Fremont, she relocated to Shalimar Gardens Assisted Living Center in Fremont.

Her hobbies included sewing for people, doing fancy work and making quilts; making candles for all occasions; and painting pictures.

Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Karl Lauer of Broken Bow, Fred Lauer of La Mirada, Calif., and Herbert Lauer of McCook, Nebr.; sister, Leona Fogle of Hanford, Calif.; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Albert, Gus, William, Edmond, John and Arthur; and a sister, Victoria Wagner.

Humlicek Funeral Home of Dodge, Nebr., and Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Hone in Lusk were in charge of arrangements.
