Alta L. Keeney

Services for Alta L. Keeney, 89, of Brighton, Colo., formerly of Lusk, were held Friday, Aug. 28, 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Bader-Peet Mortuary in Lusk with Rev. Allen Kallenbach of the Lusk Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Keeney died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1992, at the Brighton Care Center in Brighton. She was born March 31, 1903, in Johnstown, Neb., to Henry S. and Mary Cecelia (Hathaway) Marshall. She married Earl Leon Keeney on July 29, 1941 in Chadron, Neb.

Keeney moved from the Lusk area 10 years ago to the Torrington area and then on to Brighton. While in Lusk, she taught Sunday school at the Congregational Church and was active with 4-H and Boy Scouts of America programs.

She is survived by a son and his family, James and Bences Keeney and two grandchildren, Leon E. Keeney and Gayle M. Keeney, all of Fort Lupton, Colo. and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, in 1972 and six brothers.

Memorial to the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated by the family.

Bader-Peet Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
