News of the death of Charles Kearn "Buddy" Knight who died of cancer December 26, 1980 at March Air Force Base Hospital, California, has been received. Knight and his wife Katherine lived in Lusk during the late 1940's when he was employed by the Wyoming Highway Department. He is the brother-in-law of Mrs. Rose Lewis of Van Tassell.
Charles Kearn Knight was born in Trinidad, Colo., on November 17, 1919, growing up and receiving his education in Denver. At the age of 12 he became an entertainer, tap-dancing, singing and playing the piano. He joined the National Guard in 1938 and became active in the military service in 1941, retiring in 1967. For a short 5 1/2 years in the 1940's Knight was out of the service and it was then that he lived in Lusk. He married Kathern Hebner on February 28, 1942.
After retirement from the service, Knight worked at Offutt Field in Omaha as a field service peripheral maintenance engineer until June 1968, when he became ill with cancer.
Funeral services were in California with interment in Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, Court of Honor, Fair Oaks, California.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles Terry and James Stanton, one daughter Bonnita Rae Thompson, six grandchildren, and a brother, William, all of California; a sister, Wanda Knight Mansfield, Wichita Falls, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
