Inez G. Kraft
Inez G. Kraft was born June 8, 1902 at Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Fredrick Barnhisel and Ella Josephine Forbes. She died Nov. 26, 1984 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home which she had entered Oct. 29.
Her mother died when Inez was six and her father tried to keep the family together with the aid of housekeepers for 2 years. He finally put Inez and her two-year-old sister Ioma on a train for Iowa to live with Aunt Maude and Uncle Barry Hinsley. They also lived in Pipestone, Minn. and Windsor, Miss. where Inez graduated from high school.
After graduation she came to Wyoming to teach school in the Kirtley and Indian Creek Communities from 1922 to 1924.
On May 17, 1924 she was united in marriage to Henry Kraft at Hot Springs, S. Dak. They settled on Henry's homestead on Plum Creek in Niobrara County. To them were born 5 children, Robert, killed in World War II, Ella Mae, who died in infancy, Donald, Thelma Freeman and Barie Lee Rumney all of Lusk. After the death of her husband on Nov. 26, 1948 she remained on the family ranch until she moved to Lusk in 1972.
She was a member of the Congregational Church and had belonged to the Hat Creek Ladies Club for many years. She enjoyed crocheting afghans the last few years and gave many away to friends.
Besides her children she is survived by five grandsons, four granddaughters, two great grandchildren and her half sister Alex Conover of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ioma and infant brother Freddie.
Services for Inez G. Kraft were held at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk November 19, 1984. Rev. Roy Howell officiated the service.
Music was by Minerva Watson, organist and Mark Lohr sang "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".
Pallbearers were Shane Kraft, Randy Kraft, Krag Kraft, Andy Federle, Jim Rumney and Edmond Cook.
Interment was at Lusk Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Niobrara County Nursing Home.
Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
