Emry M. Kropatch

Emry M. Kropatch, 73, a longtime rancher on the Cheyenne River in Northern Niobrara County, died Sunday at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.

The son of Oswald and Anna Kropatch, he was born in Polk County, Neb., where he attended school.

Mr. Kropatch came to Wyoming in 1938 to ranch with his father on the Cheyenne. He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Kropatch was married to Frances Iwan in 1943 at Ft. Lawton, Seattle, Wash.

They lived on the Cheyenne River ranch until 1969 when they moved to Lusk.

Mr. Kropatch was a member of the American Legion and St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael of Newcastle; a daughter, Debra Theisen of Pierce, Neb.; three sisters, Eva Kotlar of California, Effie Woodhouse of Albin, Wyo., and Alda Iwan of Cheyenne; four grandchildren; and may other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A rosary was recited Tuesday night at Peet Morturary, and a mass officiated by the Rev. Bartholomew Svete was said Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Newcastle.

Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle.

Pallbearers were Hadley and Bill Woodhouse, Pete Kotlar, Don Filinger, George Boruch and Dennis Shefcyk.
