Elsie M. Kuskie
Funeral service for Elsie M. Kuskie, a resident of the Niobrara Nursing Home, was held last Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Coyler Funeral Home in Torrington with Pastor Martin Harmon officiating. Mrs. Kuskie, 90, formerly of Ft. Laramie died at the Nursing Home September 1.
She was born July 9, 1891, in Sparks, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane (Randall) Grooms. She grew up in that area and married August C. Kuskie there on December 24, 1908. They farmed near Sparks until 1915, when they moved to a homestead north of Ft. Laramie. Mr. Kuskie died in 1954. Mrs. Kuskie continued to live on the farm with her son Glen until 1977 when she moved to Lusk to live with her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Black. She was a member of the Kaspier Extension Club of Ft. Laramie.
Survivors include her son Glen of Torrington; three daughters Mrs. Evelyn Mead, Central Point, Ore., Mrs. Edna Mead, Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Mabel Black, Lusk; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, eight brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
Interment was in Valley View Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Niobrara Nursing Home.
