Leona V. Schilreff Larsen

Services for Leona V. Schilreff Larsen, 67, were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 1994, at the Colyer Funeral Home.

Pastor Brad Eakins officiated. Burial as in Mitchell Cemetery, at Mitchell, Neb. Mrs. Larsen died at a Fort Collins, Colo. Hospital on Tuesday, September 6, 1994. Memorial gifts to the Wyoming Renal Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

She was born May 22, 1927, at Denver, Colo. the daughter of George and Amelia (Herder) Sterkel. The family moved to Riverton, Wyo. when she was a small child. She quit school at an early age to care for the rest of the family after her mother's death. She and George Schilreff were married in Scottsbluff, Neb. on January 14, 1945, and they farmed in Torrington. They lived in Denver for a time before returning to farm in Torrington. George died in 1968. She remained in Torrington until ill health forced her to enter a nursing home in Fort Collins in July 1994.

She is survived by three sons, David Schilreff and Michael Schilreff, both of Torrington and George Schilreff of Denver; a daughter Shirley Ann Oliver of Torrington; two sisters, Violet Fleak and Betty Giddings, both of Riverton, Wyo.; uncle and aunt Alex and Katie Herder of Manville, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Kim Gaukel of Manville is her granddaughter. In addition to her first husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sterkel and Mary Ann Silvar and one great-grandson, Michael Domina.
