Lola Blanche Lewis

Funeral services for Lola "Billie" Blanch Lewis, 79, of Gering, Neb., were held Jan, 31, 2000, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Interment followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Lola Lewis died Jan. 26, 2000, at a Fort Collins, Colo. hospital.

Lola was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Lance Creek, to Lou and Mabel Osborne.

She graduated from Lusk High School in 1938. She attended business college in Eugene, Ore. She was one of the first civilian employees at the air base in Casper during World War II. She was also one of the first employees at the Western National Bank in Westridge.

Lola married Ed T. Lewis on Sept. 17, 1954 in Buffalo, Wyo. They lived in Casper and in 1969 moved to Gering, where she worked at the Bank of Gering, retiring in 1982

She loved her family, gardening, and had a beautiful yard.

Survivors include her mother Mabel Osborne of Lusk; two daughters, Georgeanne Wagoner of Gering, and Christie White of Fort Collins; four grandsons, Joseph Peterson of Aurora, Colo., Daniel Peterson of Casper, David Peterson of Rock Springs, and Steven Landstrom of Torrington; four sisters, Geraldine Williams of Lafayette, La., Wyoma Seamans of Houston, Texas, Joy Hartung of Casper and Donna Weiss of Arvada., Colo.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church of Lusk.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
