Lawrence Kenneth Lewis
Funeral service for Lawrence Kenneth Lewis of Scottsbluff was held July 17 at St Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff. Lewis was the brother of Lester Lewis of VanTassell and father of Teresa Poage of Lost Springs.
The Rev. Robert Karnish officiated. Burial with military rites was in Fairview Cemetery. A Rosary was recited July 16.
Lewis was born November 13, 1918, at Van Tassell, attending schools in Goshen County and high school in Van Tassell. He served in the European Theater during W.W.II in the U.S. Army. He moved to Harrison in 1953 where he owned and operated Gateway Service until 1968. He was a former mayor, fire chief, and rescue unit operator at Harrison and received the AK-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Citation for his work with the rescue unit.
He moved to Scottsbluff in 1968 and became a field officer and supervisor for the Nebraska Motor Vehicle Department until he retired in 1982
