Alfred Lincoln Dies in Upton

Several local people attended funeral service for Alfred Lincoln, 78, held July 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community United Methodist Church in Upton. Mr. Lincoln died July 11 at Weston County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Reverend Frank Gunter conducted the service with music by Nancy Frederick, soloist and Marjorie Mejstrik, organist. Casket bearers were his five grandsons Morece Dillon, Robert Lincoln, Randy Lincoln, Tom Hamilton, Monte Hamilton and a nephew, Kenneth Schuricht. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

Alfred Lewis Lincoln was born August 29, 1895, at Corning, Iowa. At the age of four he moved with his family by covered wagon to Kansas where the family lived until Alfred was 19. He then traveled by train with an older brother to Jireh where he filed a homestead.

January 15 he married Dora Brahms at Lusk. They ranched south of Keeline where he drove the mail route until 1937 when the family moved to the Flying E Ranch at Moorcroft. In 1940 he moved to his ranch on Mason Creek which he operated until 1950 when he moved to Upton. He followed the carpenter trade from that time until he suffered a stroke in 1967.

He helped with the construction of the Methodist Church in Upton and donated many hours to this project.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Annabelle Hamilton, Osage; two sons, Glen of Osage and Marvin of Santa Monica, Calif.; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His parents, one daughter, Pauline Dillon; five brothers and one sister died previously.

Attending the service from Lusk were Mrs. Helen Lincoln, Larry Lincoln, Mrs. William Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Emery Gaukel.
