James V. Moss

Memorial services for James V. "Jim" Moss, 72, were held February 24, 1995, at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton with Reverend Duane Ayers of the First Baptist Church of Riverton officiating. Mr. Moss died February 18, 1995, at the Wind River Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born March 3, 1922, in Merriman, Nebr. to Oliver and Rose F. (Stach) Moss. He graduated from Manville High School in 1940, and joined the U.S. Army where he served in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

On May 14, 1949, he married Hannah "Nancy" Dowson in Lusk. They lived in Manville for 18 years; Lance Creek for 26 years; Dickinson, N.D. for four years; and moved finally to Riverton upon his retirement from the Continental Oil Company.

Mr. Moss enjoyed fishing, camping, square dancing, and spending time with his wife. He was an active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he worked to keep the sanctuary clean and was involved in all of the church's activities.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah; two brothers, Harold Moss of Spokane, Wash., and Earl Moss of Chadron, Neb.; one sister, Bonnie Neal of Prescott, Ariz.; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Moss; and a stepson, Carl Moss.
