Jim McAllister

Services for Jim McAllister, age 78, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 (today) at the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Scott Grimshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

He was born June 25, 1911, in Decatur, Neb., the son of Cordelia and James McAllister. He had two brothers, three half-brothers and two half-sisters.

He came to Wyoming from Nebraska in a covered wagon when he was six years old with his mother, his step-father John Bray, and his brothers.

He attended grade school at Jireh. He enjoyed ranch work of all kinds. He worked with cows and horses all of his life. He also worked some construction helping to build Highway 20 with his own team and scraper.

On July 3, 1937, he married Della Parmely. To this union was born one daughter, Janice Krein of Lusk. He also had two grandchildren, Tonya and Jim.In the course of Jim and Della's marriage, they assisted in the care of two other children; Sandra Beghtol of Torrington and Philip Joss of Lusk. Jim and Della loved all little children and enjoyed babysitting many children they knew.

As Jim got older he hauled cattle for several of the area ranchers. After his trucking days ended, he drove the school bus for three years until his retirement.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Otis and Kenneth and a half-brother, Harold.

Survivors include his wife Della of Lusk; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Johnny Krein of Lusk; two grandchildren, Tonya and Jim; one brother, Jim of California and one half-brother, Henry Bray of Hot Springs, SD; plus numerous other relatives and friends.
