Clarence "Ozzie" Ausborn
Funeral services for C.W. "Ozzie" Ausborn, age 71 of Lusk, were held Nov. 24, 1999 at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Lusk with Rev. Bret Schroeder officiating. Interment was in Lusk cemetery.
He died on November 21, 1999 in Torrington, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Ozzie was born Dec, 25, 1927 in Lytton, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Sac City, Iowa in 1945. After serving in the Merchant Marines from 1945-1946, he enlisted in the Army and served 14 months in Korea. He then attended Cayne Electrical Trade School in Chicago.
On June 15, 1949 he married Bonnie Ferne Luft. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Ozzie worked as a lineman for 12 years before becoming manager of Gunnison county Electric in Gunnison, Colo. At 34 he was the youngest manger in the state of Colo. In 1971 they moved to Lusk where Ozzie accepted the manger position for Niobrara Electric Association. He retired in January 1991 after 19 years of service.
He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church, serving as an elder. He was president of Lusk Chamber of Commerce.
Ozzie also served as a board member for 15 years for the NYSCA Data Corporation in North Dakota., Many hours were spent in his workshop at home with his personal love for all types of woodworking and furniture creations.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie; three daughters Nan Beckman of Branson Mo.; Clare Mick of Neodesha, Kan.; and Jill Crinklaw of Willow, Alaska. Five Granddaughters and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and his only grandson.
A memorial as been designated to St. Paul's Lutheran church, P.O. Box 1245, Lusk Wyoming 82225. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral home of Lusk was in charge of the arrangements.
