Victoria Mason Dies at Chadron

Victoria Mason, long a resident of the Harrison area, died July 31, at Crest View Manor in Chadron at the age of 82.

She was born March 12, 1889, at St. Paul, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Elena Neilson Sundstrum. She married Fred Mason, and one daughter, Cora Belle, was born. In 1920 another daughter, Leola, came to live with them.

Mrs. Mason spent most of her life in northwestern Nebraska, primarily at Harrison with the exception of a few years that were spent in California. She devoted her entire life to caring for others who were less fortunate physically.

About four years ago her eyesight began to fail and on September 10, 1967, she went to live in the nursing home at Fairmont, Neb., where she resided until January of this year when she was transferred to the Crest View Manor at Chadron.

She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the Harrison United Methodist Church.

Her husband and the two daughters died previously. Surviving are a step-son Clarence Mason of Manville, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Ralph Hilderbrand Jr. of Miles City, Mont., Mary Bridge of Kansas City, Kans., Emma Jean Hoyt of Denver, Juanita Hamaker of Kersey, Colo., Edwin Dale Hilderbrand of Casper, Wyo., and Russell Hilderbrand of Omaha. There are 15 great-grandchildren.
