Ralph R. McKelvey

Memorial services for Ralph R. McKelvey, 83, were held Monday, October 13, 1986 at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk. Rev. Beauferd Anderson officiated with burial following in the Lusk Cemetery.

McKelvey died Friday, Oct. 10, 1986 at the Goshen County Nursing Home in Torrington. He was born Sept. 15, 1903 at Cozad, NE, the son of Edward and Edna Peden McKelvey.

In 1912, his family moved to Wyoming where they homesteaded west of Van Tassell. Ralph attended school and grew to manhood in the Van Tassell area. He also lived on a farm south of Van Tassell where he farmed, had a mail route and trucking business.

McKelvey married Emily Hansen in November 1930 and the couple moved to Lusk about 1945 where he continued in the trucking business until 1954. They then operated a restaurant in Lusk for several years and he was also employed by the Town of Lusk. In 1978, he moved to the nursing home in Torrington.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lusk.

McKelvey was preceded in death by his wife, Emily; one son, Joel John; two brothers and one sister. He is survived by one son, Gene Edward of Santa Monica, CA; one daughter, Bonnie Martin of Portland, OR; five grandchildren; one brother, Mike McKelvey of Mesa, AZ; and one sister, Pat Carlson of Hyland, WY.

Memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
